I have always found there is a certain magic about gingerbread. Be it shop-bought or home-made, the arrival of gingerbread to our biscuit tins and kitchen tables means that autumn is here, and we are edging ever closer to the wonder of Christmas.
Once a year, over the festive season, it is a tradition of mine to create a home-made rustic gingerbread-house, complete with piped icing windowpanes and a white chocolate-button roof.
I can’t think of a more welcoming fragrance to greet your guests than that of freshly baked gingerbread as they enter your house.
